The award-winning Kinsterna mansion opens its doors this year and invites you to visit the magical Monemvasia for the Greek celebration of the Ash Monday; an excellent occasion for a short getaway but also a great opportunity to awaken memories and revive the customs of our culture!
Monday the 18th of March marks the end of Carnival and the beginning of Lent with the traditional “kouluma”, which we will honour with a special buffet with creative fasting proposals, thus bring you closer to nature. You will also have the opportunity to make your own handmade kite and also fly it the traditional way as per the customs!
The Chef of the mansion, has designed vegetarian proposals using fine local products from small producers of the wider region, as well as vegetables from the fertile estate of the Byzantine mansion.
At the same time, the unique hospitality experience at Kinsterna includes unique activities such as bread baking in the old stone wood-fired oven, kite making and carnival mask making, while the highlight will be visiting the new henhouse which gives the opportunity to kids and adults alike to see the operation and production of a modern farm and how it is linked to a balanced Mediterranean diet. Inspired by the philosophy of self-sufficiency and its long history, a stay at the mansion is a journey to another era and at the same time an authentic hospitality experience, combining the charm of the old with the comfort of the new. The ride in the royal carriage on the estate as well as the tour of the mansion and its gardens are just some of the experiences offered that take our guests to another era.
Finally, guests looking for a break from the daily routine can enjoy moments of wellness and relaxation at the Kinsterna Spa, which offers, among other therapies, organic treatments based on natural products of the estate, such as olive oil, honey and grapes.
The proposal for the Ash Monday long weekend also includes:
- Accommodation for two or three nights
- Rich “Greek” breakfast buffet (daily).
- Late Check out (subject to availability)
- Ride with donkey ‘Takis’ (for children)
- Horseback riding with an instructor
