Based on our mansion's philosophy regarding the revival of all activities that took place on the past in the premises, the Kinsterna Hotel has put together a number of activities to be enjoyed by our guests throughout Autumn and Winter.
We welcome the harvest period of olives and invite our guests to participate in the production of extra virgin olive oil, which is one of the most important agricultural activities in Greece! Watch how the olives are crushed in the old stone mill using traditional methods to produce the cold pressed olive oil, called "agoureleo". You will also have the opportunity to bottle olives following the mansion's simple recipe, as well as to enjoy an olive oil tasting accompanied by delicious snacks prepared by the Chef de Cuisine of the mansion.
The experience will also include baking of the traditional handmade bread in the old stone oven, as well as baking the delicious fruits of the quince tree! The most adventurous guests are also invited to participate in the process and help our local village baker to sift and knead the traditional bread dough by hand, using ingredients from our estate such as oregano, olives or raisins into the loaves of bread.
Above activities will take place during all weekends until 8 January 2017.
Moreover, on October 15th and 29th we offer our guests the unique experience of the distillation and production of 'tsipouro' - a Greek spirit similar to grapa - which takes place forty days after the grapes' crush. The spirit is still preared at the old Ottoman cauldron from 1890. Once the process is finished, participants can take a small bottle of tsipouro home!
Additionally, on a daily basis, we offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy several interesting activities within our 18 acre estate, such as horse-back riding, cycling or walking to local hiking trails through our privately owned vineyards and the surrounding area, as well as the European path E33 which connects the Kinsterna with the picturesque village of Koulentia.
